It was not for the first time for a personnel of the fashionable hotel "Hilton", situated in Tel Aviv, to meet such an important guests like a cast of prime-minister from abroad. But a gala evening that was held by the President of The World Congress of Georgian Jews Mr. Gabriel Mirilashvili to commemorate the first official visit to Israel of Georgian prime-minister Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili will remain in their memories for many years.
On the 24th June of 2013, at 7 p.m., the biggest hall of the hotel "Hilton" was full of guests. Luxurious dishes and expensive drinks, pleasant atmosphere that was made only by two musicians: the one played the piano and the other on the violin….
The main "hero of the occasion" did not made the guests wait for a long time. The prime-minister appeared in accordance with an official persons, security and lots of correspondents. At the entrance he was met by the President of the WCGJ and other representatives of the Congress. At the occasion were invited 7 ministers from the Israeli government and members of the parliament (Knesset).
It was not an official meeting, it was a meeting of friends and every person that evening could feel this friendly atmosphere. When all guests took their places, a famous Georgian host Otar Tatishvili was welcomed at the stage under the heady applause.
…….Mr. Gabriel Mirilashvili is known as an excellent founder, but it goes without saying that this evening was something special for him. "Dear Prime-minister and honored guests welcome to the holy land of the State of Israel. Today we are greeting our "brothers" from our lovely Georgia. This evening is our friendly replay to the meeting in Georgia a few months ago, during Hannucah holiday. The connection between Georgian and Israeli people have a 26 century history, and our future generation, our children, will never forget this history" – said Mr. Mirilashvili in his greeting speech. After the president, Mr. Zeev Elkin, the deputy of the foreign minister of Israel greeted the guests.
After a while, Mr.Ivanishvili was invited to the stage. His speech he started with congratulation on birth of a grandson to Mr. Mirilashvili, who was given name Mishiko (Moshe) Mirilashvili, in loving memory of his great grandpa. The Prime-minister presented to Mr. Mirilashvili a Georgian epic poem – "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" – written in the 12th century, by the greatest Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli. In his speech Mr. Ivanishvili underlined that he appreciates jewish people, because they have never betrayed the Georgians. He described the Jews as very talented and gifted nation. "Israel is a wonderful country, I really liked here, you have managed to make a paradise in this desert, may God bless you and remember, that we are always happy to see you in Georgia" – said the Prime-minister.
The President of the WCGJ handed to Mr. Ivanishvili the highest award of the Congress – a golden medal named in honor of Mishiko Mirilashvili.
It was a very beautiful and long evening – evening of friends with endless toasts and congratulations. Israeli and Georgian singers made a fantastic show for the guests. "Hilton" will remember us for a very long time…
